DELVE Deeper: Uncertain Journey
Shiota recollects… I started off collecting suitcases. I made use of to go to flea markets in Berlin and I came throughout an old suitcase with a pretty outdated newspaper from 1947 inside. I was fascinated by it and started accumulating additional. It is an inspiration of day-to-day motion and as a result unique life and thoughts. What is existence, what does it mean to be alive, what are our expectations or where by are we striving to go? Each individual unique individual carries only the essential things when traveling…
People depart their hometowns with a place in thoughts.
Residing among the persons of various nationalities,
I abruptly overlook that I am Japanese.
Looking at oneself mirrored in a mirror,
you notice for the 1st time that you have black hair and black eyes.
The further you drift and the more you combine,
the more you get there at a spot that will allow you to stare really hard at you, anew.
When I glance at a heaping pile of suitcases,
all I see is a corresponding number of human life.
Why did these men and women depart the area they were being born,
in research of some spot?
Why did they go on this voyage?
I think back on the thoughts of these persons
on the morning of their departure.
