(Reuters) – Fb Inc took down a popular Wall Road discussion group, Robinhood Inventory Traders, in a move its founder explained was an unjustified reaction to discussions that have buoyed shares in GameStop Corp and other firms.

GameStop, AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc and BlackBerry have been at the centre of a current market fight as personal buyers coordinating on social media, including Reddit, and using investing apps these types of as Robinhood, acquired shares and squeezed hedge funds that experienced wager major the companies would slide.

Allen Tran, a 23-calendar year-old from Chicago who developed Robinhood Stock Traders, explained he woke up on Wednesday to a notification that Fb had disabled the 157,000-member team. The notification, seen by Reuters, said without having depth that the group violated guidelines on “adult sexual exploitation”.
