Guide to the Seattle Art Fair 2022

Back in 2019, before ish really hit the supporter, Seattle Artwork Fair delighted (and befuddled) us with a Bubble Boy–esque earthquake simulator and a performance artist who smashed her facial area into bread. And a lot and heaps of art. Because then, founding lover Vulcan shuttered its arts and enjoyment division and, oh yeah, one thing termed Covid in essence nixed in-human being events for two several years.

What a setting for a triumphant return. Artwork Industry Productions, a partner considering that the fair’s inaugural year of 2015, is now the sole organizer, bringing Seattle Art Fair back, July 21–24, at Lumen Industry Function Center. 

This sixth iteration of the good welcomes 85 neighborhood, national, and worldwide galleries, including many Seattle-area favorites and those people as much away as Argentina, Seoul, and Switzerland. Pieces span a range of kinds and mediums: gravity-defying glass swooshes from Tokyo, joyous floral paintings from London, an acrylic depiction of a crushed Starbucks cup from (wherever else) Seattle. 

Despite the fact that the position of Seattle Artwork Truthful is to link galleries, artists, and collectors, AMP just isn’t abandoning previous efforts to include general public art installations throughout the exhibition floor: Pakistan-born artist Humaira Abid’s stark This Planet is Wonderful, and Dangerous Too portrays the tenuous innocence of little ones in the deal with of violence with a wooden swing and a pair of blood-stained shoes. Queer and transgender Northwest artist Clyde Petersen reflects on their existence by way of recycled cardboard fashioned into tree rings in As the twig is bent, so is the tree inclined. And in other places will be works from the likes of Inye Wokoma of Wa Na Wari, Preston Singletary, and Pilchuck Glass Faculty. 

Of course, when you’re an artwork lover at a reasonable all about artwork, you may want to converse about artwork too. AMP is much more than satisfied to provide with a collection of panels, e book signings, and talks ranging from “Bridging the Digital and Actual physical,” introduced by (once more who else) the Seattle NFT Museum, to a lecture by groundbreaking photographer and artist Carrie Mae Weems.

One-working day tickets run $25, but a $50 fair go grants you access for the overall duration of the occasion, which include the exceptional opening evening on Thursday.
