Scott Sueme is a Canadian artist lifted in Vancouver on the unceded common territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. He attended Emily Carr College of Artwork + Style in 2006, and has exhibited all through Canada, as nicely as internationally. Sueme’s approach to painting is rooted in an exploration of materiality — especially, the top quality and notion of color. His hard-edge portray methods build a subtlety of depth that not only reveals a new resonance to colour, it also attracts attention to the “imperfect” procedure of the human hand in a way that feels each nostalgic and personal.
Sueme is a single of ten artists we picked to be part of a neighborhood strategy challenge by BlueSky Properties in Downtown Surrey called PARKWAY. Their mission is to deliver neighborhood to daily life in Surrey, and for us, a concentrate on art and culture is what leads to a really vibrant and activated local community. With this in head, we are working with their new profits centre to highlight artwork and artists inspired by existence here in BC. The works instantly under ended up purchased from him for the area — you can read far more about the undertaking listed here. The rest of the works below are from his extraordinary solo clearly show “The Back garden at the Purple House” currently on see at Gallery Jones.
